Allocation Problems in Ride-sharing Platforms

چکیده
Bipartite-matching markets pair agents on one side of a market with agents, items, or contracts the opposing side. Prior work addresses online bipartite-matching markets, where arrive over time and are dynamically matched to known set disposable resources. In this article, we propose new model, Online Matching (offline) Reusable Resources under Known Adversarial Distributions ( OM-RR-KAD ) , in which resources offline reusable instead disposable; that is, once matched, become available again at some point future. We show our model is tractable by presenting an LP-based non-adaptive algorithm achieves competitive ratio ½-ϵ for any given constant ϵ > 0. also no adaptive can achieve ½ + o (1) based same benchmark LP. Through data-driven analysis massive openly dataset, robust enough capture application taxi dispatching services ride-sharing systems. present heuristics perform well practice.

متن کاملMulti-Hop Ride Sharing
We study the problem of ride sharing in road networks. Current approaches to this problem focus on simple bulletin board like services or on algorithms that do not allow to transfer. In this work, we present a solution with an arbitrary number of transfers that respects personal preferences of the users. We engineer the ride sharing problem by searching a graph that represents a timetable netwo...
متن کاملAnalyzing Uber's Ride-sharing Economy
Uber is a popular ride-sharing application that matches people who need a ride (or riders) with drivers who are willing to provide it using their personal vehicles. Despite its growing popularity, there exist few studies that examine large-scale Uber data, or in general the factors affecting user participation in the sharing economy. We address this gap through a study of the Uber market that a...
متن کاملRide Sharing: A Network Perspective
Ride sharing’s potential to improve traffic congestion as well as assist in reducing CO2 emission and fuel consumption was recently demonstrated by works such as [1]. Furthermore, it was shown that ride sharing can be implemented within a sound economic regime, providing values for all participants (e.g., Uber). Better understanding the utilization of ride sharing can help policy makers and urb...
متن کاملThickness and Competition in Ride-sharing Markets
We study the effects of thickness and competition on the equilibria of ride-sharing markets, in which price-setting firms provide platforms to match customers (“riders”) and workers (“drivers”). To study thickness, we vary the number of potential workers (“the labor pool”) and, to study competition, we change the number of firms from one to two. When the market is sufficiently thick, wage and w...
